My Perfect Beach Day in HMB

Beach, Bonfire and Blankets – My Perfect Day at the beach (Half Moon Bay)
Imagine you’re at the beach and the day winds to an end. The sun is setting without a cloud in the sky. All you hear are the waves crashing on the shore as seagulls call to one another. The ocean air is sweet, as it gently passes by you. You realize at that moment things are too perfect to leave and you decide to stay just a little longer. “Let’s make a bonfire,” a friend calls out. Suddenly the evening took an unexpected turn and there is an air of excitement. After all, who wouldn’t want to have a bonfire on the beach with someone special. Friends and lovers alike, the beach is where you should be.
As the night progresses, you find yourself sitting comfortably in your chair feeling the warmth of the fire. Your phone suddenly vibrates pulling you away… you look at it noticing a friend messaging you.
“Where are you”, she asks?
“I am at Poplar Beach. Join us,” you reply as you send a few pictures.

Several months have passed since that magical beach day. I will always remember the beach, crashing of the waves, with the warm blaze of the bonfire. When I show my videos and pictures to family and friends, they smile with a bit of envy in their eyes.  I often go back and visit HMB and I walk the coastal trail looking for dolphins and whales, while reminiscing. It’s as if I can smell the smoke of the bonfire still, while feeling the warmth. I now know a few things I am sure of – I know in my heart, there will be more memories to make. I plan on future beach picnics, volleyball games with friends, and long walks on the beach. I also know to plan for a longer than expected day and pack a few extra blankets. Next time I will spend the it with my best friend, my dog Mango. HMB is magical…and I know I want - and need - to be by the ocean.
